A drunk driver caused a terrible traffic accident in Öblarn (Liezen district) on Saturday night. Three people were seriously injured in the head-on collision.
The accident happened an hour before midnight: A 20-year-old from Liezen had driven his car from Öblarn towards Stein an der Enns when the 47-year-old came towards him with his car. The 20-year-old probably got into the oncoming lane because of his alcohol level, the two vehicles crashed head-on. Heavy alcohol consumption The 47-year-old and his 30-year-old passenger – they both come from Liezen – and the 20-year-old driver were seriously injured in the frontal collision and had to be taken to the surrounding hospitals by rescue helicopter. A breathalyser test on the 20-year-old revealed that he was heavily intoxicated.
