After a long delay, the start of production of the Tesla Semi is approaching. A rare prototype ended up lying on a freeway slip road. That upsets a “real” trucker.
- A Tesla electric truck blocked a freeway ramp in northern California.
- Apparently the electric truck had technical problems.
- A passing trucker stopped his truck and filmed the scene – not without malice.
Freight forwarders advertise with better and better equipped truck models for the younger generation in the industry, which is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. The “Homtruck” for example, equipped with a kitchen and bathroom, is more like a mobile home than a truck. It is also certain that purely electric trucks will play an increasingly important role in the future.
Scania, for example, recently presented an e-truck, but the range is still lacking. More than 350 kilometers are not possible. Things are different with the long-awaited electric truck Tesla Semi. Depending on the version, the range should be up to 1,000 kilometers with a full load.
After long delays – the Tesla Semi presented in 2017 was originally supposed to go into production from 2019 – the delivery of the first models with a range of 800 kilometers is now scheduled for December 2022. Tesla is apparently testing the semi extensively on public roads beforehand.

In the course of this, problems arose. As can be seen in the attached video, a Tesla Semi blocked the freeway ramp in northern California. A passing truck driver – traveling in a classic diesel truck – braked, changed lanes to film the incident and not without commenting maliciously.
The reason why the Tesla Semi was forced to stop is not apparent. Technical problems or an empty battery could be possible causes, the former sounds more likely. Will Tesla be able to keep the delivery date of the first models planned by Elon Musk this time?
