Drunk driving – a frontal crash with a tree kills 20-year-olds

Accident drama in Carinthia: A Klagenfurt resident got off the road in Köttmannsdorf with his car and crashed into a tree. He and two passengers survived the accident; for a 20-year-old, any help came too late.

The Klagenfurter (20) drove his car on the Wurdacher Gemeindestraße towards Köttmannsdorf on Saturday at around 4:20 p.m. In a left turn, the car came off the road for a previously unknown cause, hit a tree and overturned.

First responders were there
While the driver was able to free himself from the vehicle, two co-drivers, also aged 20 and 23, both from the Klagenfurt district, were rescued from the vehicle and cared for by first aiders. A 20-year-old who was in the back seat suffered fatal injuries in the traffic accident.

Complaint for drinking and driving
An alcohol test on the driver, whose degree of injury is currently unknown, showed what is known as under-alcoholization – that is, he had less than 0.5 per mille of alcohol in his blood. After the investigation is over, a complaint is made to the public prosecutor’s office.

The FF Köttmannsdorf and Wurdach were deployed with a total of 25 personnel, two emergency doctor helicopters and rescue workers.
