Who would have thought: Not only we, Duchess Kate too, draws inspiration from French women when it comes to fashion. We’ll tell you here which trick she takes to heart on her trip to the English countryside and why it also works for country looks.

Admittedly, it might sound a bit strange when we say that Duchess Catherine resorted to a classic styling trick by the French women on her last country visit to Durham. Because: French chic and English country flair combined in one outfit – is that even possible? Yes, and how! We’ll tell you the secret behind it and how you can combine a look from both fashion worlds.

Duchess Kate: On a trip to the English countryside, she relies on the tried and tested

When Duchess Kate goes to the English countryside, she likes to use the tried and tested. At the side of her husband William, the triple mom wears boots by Penelope Chilvers, a Norwegian-style knitted sweater from Troy London, classic jeans and an olive green windbreaker with striking pockets. Functional but stylish. Because Kate stays in one color family and, in addition to functionality, also focuses on fashionable sensitivity. And this is where the stylistic influence of the French women comes to the fore.

Kate copied this detail from the French women

Because Duchess Kate wears a white blouse under her knitted sweater, the collar of which flashes out from the round neckline of her sweater. Instead of relying on a classic shirt collar, the Royal chooses a variant of the Sézane label with flounces. Pretty clever, because the supposedly small detail has a big effect: the country look becomes more feminine and elegant in the blink of an eye. Not to use the French expression “Savoir-Faire” – an incredibly playful lightness that can be found both in the clothing and in the lifestyle of French women. And flounces are the perfect stylistic device for this.

Usually a small detail is enough

Why does the look not seem artificial? Because Duchess Kate has combined feminine details sparingly. They don’t catch the eye immediately. So also the filigree hoop earrings from the Orelia label, which Kate chooses as accessories together with her engagement ring – true to the motto: less is more. The British Duchess not only proves her knack for fashion once again, but also that you don’t necessarily have to be of French origin to skillfully style fashion with French chic.
