Duchess Kate thanked hospital staff for their "courageous, strong and kind actions" during the coronavirus pandemic.

Duchess Kate (39) has recognized the work of the nurses during the coronavirus pandemic. She thanked clinic staff in a video call, excerpts of which can be seen on Instagram, for giving attention to patients when relatives cannot go into the hospital room.

"Extra mile" for the patient

In the video, a hospital employee tells, among other things, how he played Bon Jovi from his smartphone for a dying patient while holding the man's hand. His wife, who was not allowed to come to the clinic, had asked him to do so. Such acts are exactly what matters so much in the pandemic, said Duchess Kate: "Nurses across the country are going that extra mile at a time when patients need them most."

"These brave, strong, kind acts are so important right now and we owe you a huge thank you for all you have done and continue to do through these troubled times," said the Duchess of Cambridge. The 39-year-old, dressed in a white blouse and dark blazer, is said to have made the video call, according to British media reports, from Sandringham, the residence of Queen Elizabeth II (94) in Norfolk. Nearby is Kate and Prince William's (38) country home, Anm Hall, where they currently live with their three children.
