Duchess Meghan at the Invictus Games: She cheers with Team USA for the wheelchair basketball players

Duchess Meghan (42) and Prince Harry (39) continue to be close to the people at the Invictus Games currently taking place in Düsseldorf. At the side of her husband, who is also the initiator of the sporting competitions currently taking place, Meghan kept her fingers crossed for the US mixed wheelchair basketball team in the final against France on Wednesday evening. In the end it was successful: the USA beat their opponents 29 to 15 and thus secured the gold medal.

As numerous pictures from the competition show, Meghan was of course excited for Team USA from her home country and even cheered loudly for the team. She also clearly underlined her solidarity on her chest: She wore a top with a sticker of the US flag. This was presented to her before the game by another US fan.

Duchess Meghan sang “Sweet Caroline” loudly

Meghan combined the simple, black top with black jeans and black pumps. Her husband also went for a dark outfit on Wednesday evening: He wore an official Invictus Games polo shirt in black and also chose black jeans. The only difference between the two was the choice of color for their shoes: Harry opted for white sneakers.

During the game, she loudly cheered on Team USA in the Merkur Game Arena and sang along loudly with the evergreen “Sweet Caroline”. A few hours earlier, Harry and Meghan were at a wheelchair basketball game together. They also sat together in the stands among the fans and watched the game between Australia and Ukraine.

Will Duchess Meghan appear at the final rally?

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will remain in Germany until September 16th. A closing ceremony will then take place in Düsseldorf. It is still unclear what role Meghan will play there. Initially, officials said she would “personally moderate” stories from war-disabled competitors and their families. This information has now disappeared from the Invictus Games website.

The Invictus Games are an international sporting event for soldiers who have suffered injuries in service or deployment or who have suffered permanent physical and mental impairments due to illnesses. They were launched by Prince Harry in 2014. In addition to the United Kingdom, countries such as Germany, Australia, France, Israel, Italy, Nigeria, Canada and the USA also take part in the competitions. This year they will take place from September 9th to 16th in Düsseldorf.
