Duchess Meghan: Devastating words about Kate’s marriage to William

Duchess Meghan, 41, has many talents. Before her marriage to Prince Harry, 38, she earned her money as a very successful series actress in Hollywood. She also wrote her blog “The Tig”. After joining the royal family, her coverage of lifestyle, feminism and society disappeared from the web. But resourceful internet cracks keep bringing to light fragments that were thought to have been locked away for a long time. One of these resurfaced entries deals with the world-renowned wedding of Prince William, 41, and the Princess of Wales, 41, in 2011. A dreamlike royal event, which was apparently not well received by the actress at the time.

Duchess Meghan: “Pomp and noise” about Williams and Kate’s wedding irritated her

Certainly, the British royal family radiated a certain fascination for American society even before Meghan’s marriage to Harry. But the Duchess herself has repeatedly asserted in various interviews that she herself had hardly any contact with reporting on the Royals in her pre-royal days. However, her brother-in-law’s marriage to real-life Kate Middleton 12 years ago seemed to have piqued at least a little interest from the California native. After all, according to the “Daily Mail”, she dedicated her own blog post to the major event.

Meghan was suspicious of the “pomp and fanfare” surrounding the marriage of King Charles’ eldest son, 74, to his former classmate and made no bones about the fact that “Princess Kate’s” wedding and the attendant reactions from “adult women “, who apparently saw their “childhood fantasies” about fairytale princesses fulfilled, more than irritated them.

Meghan saw herself as She-Ra, Princess of Power

She only wrote her comment in 2014, three years after the royal dream wedding. Although she herself had such fantasies, her icon sent completely different signals than Catherine. “Little girls dream of being princesses. For example, I was infatuated with She-Ra, Princess of Power,” she reportedly explained on her blog. The 1980’s comic book character is He-Man’s twin sister, a sword-wielding royal rebel, strong and fierce. “We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here,” Meghan said of her childhood icon. In the same breath, she apparently mocked Kate’s pompous wedding ceremony and the response to it from countless female Royal fans. “Grown women seem to retain that childhood fantasy. Just think of the pomp and circumstance of the royal wedding and the endless conversations about Princess Kate,” the then “Suits” actress is said to have captured her thoughts on the matter.

Only a few years later, however, the overly critical Meghan herself was to be led down the aisle by a British prince. “Pomp and roar” were inevitably the companions on this memorable day. But the months and years that followed would prove that the spirit of childhood heroine She-Ra appears to have prevented a “hostile” takeover of Cinderella with plenty of fighting spirit in the self-assured Duchess.
