Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry celebrated daughter Lilibet’s first birthday in the UK and even hosted a small party to everyone’s surprise. Only the Cambridge kids were missing…
Duchess Meghan, 40, and Prince Harry, 37, have traveled to the UK in honor of Queen Elizabeth, 96,’s platinum anniversary, even taking their children Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, with them. A special highlight: Her little daughter, who celebrated her first birthday on Saturday, June 4, 2022, finally got to know her great-grandmother in person.
Duchess Meghan + Prince Harry: “Relaxed” birthday party for Lilibet
The Sussex family is said to have paid the monarch a visit shortly after her arrival, but also spent time with the Queen on Lilibet’s birthday. But the queen was not the only well-wisher. A source told The Sun newspaper that Meghan and Harry threw a “relaxed” birthday party at their Frogmore Cottage estate, complete with cake, balloons, party games and picnic snacks, to which the royal and second cousins were also invited .
Guests included the children of Zara, 41, and Mike Tindall, 43, Mia, 8, Lena, 3, and Lucas, 1, and daughters of Peter Phillips, 44, Savannah, 11, and Savannah, 11, according to the anonymous source Isla, 10. Archie’s godfather, Charlie Van Straubenzee, and his brother Tom, godfather of Princess Charlotte, 7, were also invited, the report said. There is no talk of Prince Williams, 39, children, but Prince George, 8, and Princess Charlotte accompanied their parents to Cardiff on Saturday and attended the big “Platinum Party” in front of Buckingham Palace in the evening.
“It was a beautiful celebration and had everything you would expect from a children’s birthday party,” says the source. “The idea was that it should be very relaxed and informal, with people going in and out as they pleased.” It was also a “nice opportunity” for some of the royal children to finally meet little Lilibet. It is not yet clear whether Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, 4, have even met their cousins Lilibet and their cousin Archie these days.
