Duchess Meghan has secretly launched a new project that is closely linked to her work as an active member of the Royal Family.

Prince Harry, 39, and Duchess Meghan, 42, have presented the new key program of their “Archewell Foundation”. The foundation’s annual impact report, which the Sussexes will publish on Monday, December 11, 2023, shows that the former actress has secretly, quietly launched a new initiative this year. This was inspired by, of all things, the “Hubb Community Kitchen”, which Meghan supported in her role as a working member of the Royal Family.

The initiative, called the Welcome Project, supports “women-led programs for resettled Afghan women to build integrative and better connected communities,” says the official website of the non-profit company of the royal emigrants. There are currently eleven active welcoming projects in the USA, which are supported through activities such as “sewing, art, hiking, swimming, photography, storytelling and cooking” are intended to convey a feeling of belonging.

Meghan was reminded of her “Hubb Community Kitchen”.

The idea for the project arose when Harry and Meghan visited displaced Afghan families staying at a joint military base in New Jersey two years ago. “In speaking to many of the women, the Duchess discovered that they needed not just essentials like winter coats, but something much deeper: a place to create community, a space to cook, a forum to talk to each other, and a safe place to spend time in good company,” the report continues.

The 42-year-old recalled the positive impact that the Hubb Community Kitchen had on the women who lost so much after the Grenfell Tower fire in London in 2017. In 2018, the Duchess of Sussex helped publish the cookbook “Together: Our Community Cookbook” after cooking with a group of women affected by the tragedy. Meghan wrote the foreword for the collection of 50 recipes and part of the proceeds went to the community kitchen.
