We shared, among other things, a commitment to animal welfare and a deep love for pet dogs,” Meghan explained after her good friend’s death in an emotional farewell letter published on was published on the animal protection organization’s website.

“It left me and so many others heartbroken and thoughtful – knowing that the legacy he leaves behind for our furry friends is wonderfully simple: just love them. Especially those who were left behind or forgotten,” she enthuses Year of the philosophy of the lost friend.

Duchess Meghan: This is how she honors her late friend

To pay her last respects to Oli Juste, Meghan opened Mayhew’s new “Oli Juste Wing” and was connected to London via a video link. In a moving speech that probably left no dry eye, she told the popular dog trainer’s friends and family in the audience in the British capital how her heart still breaks at the loss.

“A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Mayhew who have worked tirelessly to bring this dream to life,” an emotional Meghan said in the video message. “It was so important to find a way to celebrate Oli’s memory in a way that he would have liked.” And what could the dog behavior expert have liked better than to offer homeless animals a warm refuge? “Mayhew is a beacon of hope for those in need and a shining example of what can be achieved when we work together.”

“The Oli Juste Wing is a testament to his unwavering love and commitment to our furry friends and will improve the lives of countless animals by reminding us all of the power of compassion, connection and care.”
