Due to microsleep – a carom caused five injuries in the Ausserfern

Three vehicles were involved in a serious accident on the Fernpass road in the municipality of Pflach (Reutte district) on Saturday afternoon. A German (28) nodded off at the wheel of his car and drove into the oncoming lane. Two other car drivers were unable to avoid the collision and crashed into the vehicle.

The 28-year-old and his passenger (34) were driving towards Germany in their car shortly before 4 p.m. In the municipality of Pflach, the man may have dozed off briefly and crossed into the oncoming lane. He first hit an oncoming motorhome belonging to a 43-year-old German who was traveling with a 35-year-old woman and a five-year-old child. The collision tore open the left side of the motorhome and threw a camper gas bottle onto the road. The 28-year-old German then crashed into the car of a 50-year-old Dutch woman who was driving behind the mobile home. Hours-long closure, four injured “Four people were slightly injured in the accident and one was seriously injured,” says the police. 13 rescue workers, an emergency doctor and eight emergency services from the Pflach volunteer fire department were on duty. Some of the vehicles involved in the accident were seriously damaged. The collision ripped out the axle and left front tire of the 28-year-old’s car. The Fernpass road was closed at the scene of the accident for around three hours.
