Due to renovation – Rappenlochschlucht is only open on weekends

Because the work to clear the stream bed below the Rappenloch Bridge in Dornbirn has now resumed, the popular excursion destination will remain closed from Monday to Friday in the coming weeks. You can only hike there on weekends.

The work in the Rappenloch Gorge continues. This week work to clear the creek bed below the Rappenloch Bridge was resumed. Therefore, the jetty in this area must also be closed between Monday and Friday. “The closure is necessary for safety reasons,” reports Mayor Andrea Kaufmann, adding: “The popular hiking trail can remain open, at least on weekends. We hope to be able to complete this next and important stage in the gorge by mid-December.” “The closure during construction is to protect the workers in the creek bed. Since blasting will always be necessary, hikers must also be guided around the construction site at an appropriate safety distance,” adds Deputy Mayor Markus Fässler, City Councilor for Civil Engineering. The diversion is clearly signposted on site.Remediation necessary after rockfalls If all work can be completed as planned in the coming months, the construction site in the Rappenloch and the new construction of the Rappenloch bridge should be completed before the summer. The renovations in the gorge and the new construction of the bridge were necessary due to two large rockfalls.
