As announced, the FCZ supporters gathered at Bahnhofplatz in front of Zurich main station at around 12 p.m. The fan sectors in Letzigrund will be closed again in the afternoon for the match at 4.30 p.m. After problems in FC Zurich’s away game in Geneva, the authorities decided to punish FC Zurich and its fans by blocking the south curve.
They wanted to move to the stadium from Bahnhofplatz near Zurich main station, near which the Zurich Marathon also takes place. There is enough space in Letzigrund, they claimed.
At the end of January, the club was banned from opening the fan sectors following riots. After the game between FC Zurich and FC Basel, there were riots at Altstetten train station, one and a half kilometers from the stadium.
