One more star in the casting

While the distribution of Dune: Part Two is already well-starred (Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux…), one more head was confirmed to its casting last night .

For a few days, a rumor has been going well online concerning actress Anya-Taylor Joy, revelation of the Netflix series The Queen’s Game (and soon showing the new Mad Max Furiosa). Some fans had indeed noticed that his name had appeared in the casting of Dune 2 on the Letterboxd site before being quickly removed.

But the actress created a surprise last night by posing on the sand carpet at the London premiere of Denis Villeneuve’s film and announcing that she is indeed part of the adventure on Arrakis:

“It’s a dream come true”, declared Taylor-Joy at the microphone of Warner Bros. on TikTok. “The books are incredible, but you can’t do better than this cast and Denis.”

But what role could Anya Taylor-Joy play in Dune: Part TwoHAS ? Be careful, our theory (below) is full of spoilers…

An innocuous choice of outfit?

Details regarding Anya Taylor-Joy’s role in Dune: Part Two are obviously kept secret, beyond the fact that she plays “a key character”, and only the lucky ones who have already been able to see the film know what it is.

However, that doesn’t stop us from having an idea, especially when we pay attention to the outfit worn by the actress during the film’s premiere.

This white dress, signed by the house of Dior and inspired by a Christian Dior wedding dress from 1961, is strongly reminiscent of the costume of the Bene Gesserit in Dune.

In Frank Herbert’s novel, Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson in the film) is not only a Bene Gesserit and the mother of Paul Atreides, but she is also pregnant by her late husband, Leto.

She then gives birth to a daughter, Alia, who is endowed with the ancestral powers of the Bene Gesserit and who… grows up rather quickly. We won’t give you any more details on the why and how of this story, so as not to spoil the surprise, but we wouldn’t be surprised to discover in Dune: Part Two that it’s Anya Taylor-Joy who plays Paul Atréides’ little sister.

We will soon know more, because Dune: Part Two hits theaters on February 28.
