Dune 2 continues the war between House Atreides and House Harkonnen on Arrakis. In the new trailer you can now see Paul’s first ride on the sandworm and a fight against Feyd-Rautha.

While David Lynch filmed the complete first novel of Frank Herbert’s science fiction series in his 1984 film adaptation of “The Desert Planet”, Denis Villeneuve took his time and divided the story from the first book into two films. This allows for greater fidelity to the template, but also ensured that 2021’s “Dune” was more of a long introduction.
On November 2, 2023, “Dune: Part 2”, the second half of the story, will start in German cinemas. Director Villeneuve presented the first trailer for the film at the CinemaCon in April 2023 and now, almost two weeks later, the trailer is finally available online.
At CinemaCon, Villeneuve promised:
The first part is more of a thoughtful film. The second part is an action-packed, epic war film. It’s much more intense. We shot in completely new places. I didn’t want the feeling of repetition. They are all new sets. Everything is new.

The promised action can already be seen in the trailer. “Dune” distributed all characters on Arrakis, introduced the Fremen and introduced us to the evil Harkonnens, who are now reinforced by Feyd-Rautha in the second part. In the trailer, we already see Paul preparing for a Krismesser fight with Feyd-Rautha.
Before the Fremen join Paul in going to war against the Harkonnens in revenge for the death of Duke Leto and for the freedom of Arrakis, Paul must earn their trust and prove that he is the chosen one as prophesied by the Bene Gesserit have. Among other things, the ride on the huge sandworm, which was already hinted at in the last scene from “Dune”, serves this purpose. Now it’s Paul’s job to mount and control the creature.

A new villain and the return of those thought dead
“Dune 2” has not yet been confirmed, but it is becoming more and more likely. Netzwelt reveals how Paul’s story continues with the Fremen in the sequel.
