Dying Light 2: Olivier Derivière explains the creation of the soundtrack in four videos

Although the soundtrack of Dying Light 2 failed to make it into our selection of the best soundtracks of this year 2022 for our AG Awards, Impossible to deny the incredible work ofOlivier Deriviere here (which on the other hand is named for A Plague Tale: Requiem). The composer’s work on Dying Light 2 is to be welcomed and if you want to learn a little more about the design of this soundtrack, four videos on this subject have just been published in which the music of the game is sifted through.

Find out how the game’s music was created

In a series of videos available on the license’s YouTube channel (with subtitles that you can activate in French), the composer details his creative process to give life to the music we hear during the action phases, fights, parkour sequences or even in quieter moments.

Olivier Derivière declares on this subject:

Most interesting to me has been the number of players who have contacted me directly to express their excitement about the music. They told me about all the emotions they felt while doing parkour, fighting, building their world and discovering the story. It was all I could have hoped for: that players enjoy the music, absorb it and feel that it contributes enormously to their gaming experience. I am still amazed to have received such positive feedback, but even more , I’m grateful to Techland for letting me explore music in Dying Light 2 like never before.. »
