It’s a funny curiosity that will be released across the Atlantic next year. Indeed, Dyson has imagined a headphones which also acts as a mobile air purifier.

An amazing device that will obviously not be cheap!

An innovative and really useful concept?

Last March, Dyson unveiled a new product called Zone. Behind this name hides a hybrid device that adds the advantages of headphones to that of an air purifier. A feat made possible by the presence of a visor magnetically attached to the helmet. It sends a stream of purified air to the nose and mouth without ever touching the wearer’s face. The two-level filtration, for example, will not allow smoke and pollutants to pass through during a walk in the city.

This hygienic design is complemented by optimal audio quality thanks to an advanced noise reduction system and intelligent processing to reduce unwanted effects such as distortion. A 40 mm neodymium driver is included and SBC, AAC and LHDC audio codecs are supported. In short, all the elements necessary to enjoy an optimal listening experience seem to be on the program.

Pay attention to your budget

But as always with Dyson, many observers sensed an excessive price for this accessory which is clearly out of the ordinary… and these fears were well founded! Indeed, the English brand has confirmed that its Zone helmet will arrive in March 2023 in the United States. To get it, the first buyers will have to pay 949 dollars. Yes, it’s a hell of a sum… Apple would almost pale with its AirPods Max at 629 euros.

As of now, Dyson hasn’t said anything about launching their product in Europe. Whether the Zone’s capabilities will be able to justify its staggering price remains to be seen. The autonomy of the 2,600 mAh battery is already likely to sow discord, because, if the firm announces an endurance of 50 hours without the purification of the air, it drops to two short hours with the purifier in medium flow and even to an hour and a half at high speed.

Anyway, we will know more next March.
