EA FC 24 soon in the locker room? FIFA would prepare something heavy!

The end of the partnership between EA Sports and FIFA had created a lot of followers. Since then, the American publisher has created its own brand and is doing well. The FIFA license was looking for a buyer according to the latest news, and it seems that it has finally found one.

It was one of the big announcements of 2022. The FIFA license was going to hang up its jersey, at least on the side of EA Sports which launched its own brand. This name change ultimately had no impact for the American firm, quite the contrary. EA FC 24 made even more money than its predecessor. FIFA, for its part, has not said its last word and promised a grandiose game which would put its competitor in the locker room. Well so far we’ve only seen three small, forgettable blockchain-based games, but that could change soon. To create a real competitor to EA FC, the football federation would have turned to one of the leaders in terms of games under official sports licenses.

A FIFA 2K to compete with EA FC?

By refusing to give in to FIFA’s demands, Electronic Arts left the door open to many publishers. The federation was increasingly greedy in royalties, particularly in the run-up to the World Cup, which pushed the American publisher to stand on its own two feet. FIFA, for its part, began looking for a buyer to come and attack EA FC directly on its land. Naturally, all eyes were on 2K Games, an expert in the field. Between NBA 2K, PGA Tour and even WWE 2K, officially licensed sports games are well known. And it wouldn’t be the first time that they’ve stolen a license from Electronic Arts.

With several excellent episodes, the publisher has managed to impose a new standard thanks to its NBA 2K license, while EA formerly had the rights. What if they did the same with FIFA? This is what seems to be happening according to several rumors, which are gaining more and more weight with the latest one. The name Kurakasis won’t ring a bell with many people, but this is not his first attempt. The future insider had, for example, leaked the presence of Judas, Sonic Generations or even the Metro VR game to State of Play before anyone else. In a falsely cryptic tweet, he clearly suggests that 2K Games would have got their hands on the FIFA license.

A game with great ambitions

Take-Two, the parent company of the supposed lucky winner, expressed its interest two years ago. “ We are always interested in the opportunity to expand our activities in the field of sports. FIFA is a big brand with incredible weight, but at present we have no projects to share », declared Strauss Zelnick, CEO in May 2022. Obviously, the anti-fake suit is required until proven otherwise, but let’s face it, apart from 2K or Konami, there were not a billion suitors serious. Whoever takes over will have a lot of pressure on their shoulders.

Gianni Infantino, the big boss of FIFA, did not hold back on his promises. “II can assure you that the only authentic and real game that bears the name FIFA will be the best available for football players and fans,” he chanted after the announcement of the end of its partnership with EA Sports. If there is a collaboration between FIFA and 2K Games, everything suggests that it will be revealed shortly. The history of the insider in question is based solely on imminent announcements. Answer in the coming weeks, perhaps.
