Secure early booking discounts: Five holiday destinations for 2023 that are still cheap
Family holidays in times of inflation: If you don’t want your holidays to be spoiled by crises, economic uncertainty and inflation, you should book early. We feature five popular travel destinations with the lowest travel prices and the best early booking discounts.
Can we still afford a holiday at all? How expensive will travel be in 2023? Many families are currently dealing with these questions when they think about vacation planning for the new year. The booking and rating portal HolidayCheck has therefore carried out a current early bird price analysis for one-week family holidays (flight, hotel and transfer for two adults with two children) at up to 88 tour operators for the most popular travel destinations at Easter and in the summer holidays 2023. The result: Mallorca, Gran Canaria and the Turkish Riviera have the lowest average travel prices.
1. Mallorca: Despite the price increase, the cheapest
The Germans’ favorite island will be showing its endearing side again in the coming year – at least as far as the prices for package tours are concerned. The costs are also increasing on the island with its more than 180 beaches. Like everywhere. Nevertheless, families get the currently cheapest average price for a one-week package holiday during the holiday season 3202 euros located.
In return, they get more than a beach holiday, because the Balearic island has a lot to offer with its striking mountain ranges up to 1445 meters high, wine regions, the metropolis of Palma with its historic old town and adventurous attractions such as a boat trip through the Dragon Caves.
2. Gran Canaria: bargains among the Canary Islands
The Atlantic island of Gran Canaria is one of the cheaper destinations in sunny Spain. In the third largest Canary Island, an average package price for families of four was 3368 euros analyzed. This is between 132 and 632 euros cheaper than on the two neighboring islands of Fuerteventura (3500 to 3600 euros) and Tenerife (3900 to 4000 euros).
Gran Canaria attracts with black lava, white sandy beaches, lots of greenery and mountains almost 2000 meters high, nature reserves and spectacular cliffs. In addition to its different beaches with golden but also dark sand and small bays, it also scores with one of the most beautiful city beaches in Europe: Las Canteras is located in the middle of the capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Or with the six-kilometer-long Playa de Maspalomas beach, where the sea meets the desert – with sand dunes up to 20 meters high.

4. Crete: Greek superlatives and South Sea dreams
The largest island in Greece is an all-rounder, also when it comes to the prices for early bookers: According to the analysis, these are for a family package holiday next summer around 3500 to 3600 euros. That’s round 400 to 500 euros less than average prices on other popular Greek islands like Rhodes and Kos.
Crete impresses with mountains more than 2000 meters high and wild gorges, long sandy beaches with palm trees and secluded bays. Tip for beach fans: The palm beach of Vai in the east and the beach of Elafonissi in the west of the island are known as the ultimate dream beaches. There are no palm trees in the nature reserve there, but there is fine, white sand and crystal-clear water in shimmering shades of blue and green. If you want to see more, you can choose between excavation sites and monasteries that are up to 4000 years old, remote mountain villages and port cities with fortresses.
5. Dubai: Cheaper than in previous years
The Emirate of Dubai shows up in the price analysis from two sides: On the one hand, it counts with average prices of 5695 euros for a family holiday to the most expensive destinations from the top ten most searched travel destinations in the HolidayCheck portal. On the other hand, prices are around 18 percent below the level of the past three years. In terms of season, the Easter holidays are more suitable, because the best travel months with daytime temperatures of around 27 degrees are between November and April.
From May, the values rise to more than 30 degrees, up to over 40 degrees in August. The highlights of Dubai are the “Gold Souk” gold market with its hundreds of gold shops, the Al-Ain camel market with the most expensive camels and dromedaries in the world, the highest tower in the world, the 828 meter high Burj Khalifa and the most beautiful beaches in the United Arab Emirates Emirates.
