Early May release of Batman Autopsy, Spotify’s global blockbuster

After the dark rooms, place for audio streaming: the Spotify platform announced Tuesday the launch, at the beginning of May and in nine countries including France, of its new audio series based on the universe and the psychology of the mythical Batman.

Title Batman Autopsy, the audio blockbuster will launch simultaneously in the United States, France, Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, India, Italy, Japan and Mexico on May 3, according to the Swedish platform’s statement. It is, to date, the largest simultaneous launch of the streaming platform created in 2008.

“This will be the first project to see the light of day under the multi-year deal between Spotify, Warner Bros and DC Comics. This partnership will leverage DC Comics’ vast library of iconic characters into new Spotify podcasts, in order to bring together fans from all over the world in an unforgettable audio experience”she explains.

Each time, the original American screenplay was adapted country by country in order to “reflect the culture and language while staying true to the main story”. In the United States, it is Winston Duke, known for his role in the film “Black Panther”, who will be the voice of Bruce Wayne. In France, it is the actor Dali Benssalah, noticed in the last James Bond, who will be the voice of the title role, in an adaptation signed by the director Douglas Attal. Also note the presence in the casting of big names such as André Dussollier, Ana Girardot, Thibault de Montalembert or even Christophe Montenez from the Comédie Française.

If nothing has filtered on the synopsis side, Spotify promises a psychological thriller “which will take listeners on a new journey deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne, punctuated by plenty of twists and featuring a number of classic Batman super-villains”.

This release will take place almost two months to the day after the release in cinemas of The Batman, from Warner Bros studios, where Batman is played by British actor Robert Pattinson. Since its launch a month ago, the feature film directed by Matt Reeves has been an international success with 673 million dollars in worldwide revenue, according to figures from the firm Comscore dating from the end of March.

Leader in audio streaming with more than 406 million users worldwide, Spotify has been involved in audio fiction for a few years. In 2019, he was released in France The employeean eight-episode thriller starring Thibault de Montalembert, Alix Poisson and Virginie Ledoyen.
