The GOAT GX-600 from Ecovacs does not require boundary wires or orientation posts for navigation; it behaves like a vacuum robot. Now you can pre-order it – and it is in great demand.
- With the GOAT GX-600, Ecovacs is introducing a new robotic lawnmower
- He stormed the sales charts straight away
- In this article we also show which gardens it is suitable for
Last year, Ecovacs introduced the GOAT G1, a new generation of robotic lawnmowers that navigate without laying boundary wires using orientation posts. Since then, the device has topped our large robotic lawnmower comparison.
The next generation also uses this technology in the G1-800 and G1-2000.
The robotic lawnmower with vacuum robot genes
At the CES, however, another robotic lawnmower, the GX-600, was presented that is a little different: in contrast to the G1-800 and G1-2000, the GX-600 relies on the technologies that have long been used in Ecovacs vacuum robots use.
The Goat GX-600 has an outdoor charging station to which the robotic lawnmower automatically returns when the battery is running low or the mowing work is finished, which is the parallel to the other devices.
In addition, the manufacturer promises a fully automatic lawn mowing system that does not require any setup or limit settings – neither by cable nor with a boundary post.

This is made possible by the combined vision and SmartEdge technology, with which the robotic lawnmower automatically recognizes grass and non-grass areas such as stone pavements and sidewalks. The installation effort should be reduced by more than 90% and also enable “Press&Mow”, i.e. the direct start of a mowing process without first training the mower.
Like a vacuum robot, the GOAT GX-600 uses obstacle avoidance AIVI, which detects and avoids objects and obstacles. A floating knife set ensures an even cutting pattern and adapts flexibly to uneven surfaces to ensure a reliable and even cutting pattern.
The GX-600 also detects precipitation on the IPX6-certified housing and not only avoids driving through wet lawns, but can also be easily cleaned with a jet of water. The manufacturer offers a 3-year warranty on the GX-600, and the battery is protected by a 2-year warranty.
Differentiation from the G1-800
The GX-600 and G1-800 are both designed for smaller gardens. The GX-600 is designed for simple garden layouts. Because no virtual boundaries are drawn and the robot works “on sight”, it requires clearly defined areas of application such as a fenced garden.

If, for example, there are embedded flower beds within the lawn, these should be structurally separated, after all, you don’t want the “goat” to attack the tulips. If there is no structural boundary to the neighbor’s garden, the GX-600 simply mows it too.
For more complex garden layouts, we recommend using a robotic lawnmower from the G1 series, for example the immediately available G1-800 for gardens up to 800 square meters.
