The Brit Ed Sheeran has explained in surprisingly clear terms why he can’t stand award shows in the USA.
Last weekend he was on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City. British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran (30) will no longer be a big fan of award shows in the USA in this life. That emerges from a new interview, that the star according to the “New York Post” on “The Julia Show”. In it he criticized the toxic atmosphere that prevails at such US events.
“The room is filled with mutual resentment and hatred and it’s a pretty uncomfortable mood,” Sheeran is quoted as saying. But he immediately made it clear that this behavior does not come from the stars: “All artists are lovable people, but they are surrounded by an entourage that they want to see won.” Every celebrity is surrounded by “ten people who all look at each other askew.”
You want to see people “fail”
That was the case last weekend at the VMAs, but Sheeran also lists the Grammys, the Billboard Awards and other events: “It has nothing to do with MTV or the awards, it is the same with all award shows. There are a lot of people present who want to see other people fail. And I don’t like that. “
