EDF appoints Nicolas Machtou as head of the “New Nuclear France” program

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The energy group EDF announced on Tuesday the appointment of Nicolas Machtou as director of the “New Nuclear France” program.

As such, he will be responsible for controlling “the industrial and technical execution of the program” and will be the privileged interlocutor of the State, EDF said in a press release.

A graduate of Paris II and Columbia University, Nicolas Machtou worked in particular at RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Electricité) and Enedis, and as energy advisor to François Hollande from 2015 to 2017. He was since June 1, 2020 Chairman of the Board of Directors of Citelum, a subsidiary of EDF.

The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, announced last February a plan to relaunch the nuclear sector in France, with the objective of building six second-generation EPR reactors by 2050 and the study of the construction of eight additional reactors.

“Since the beginning of 2022, the engineering teams have been mobilized, with those of the main suppliers of the French sector, to develop the detailed design and the

licensing of the reactor”, specified EDF.
