PARIS (Reuters) – The State and the CEO of EDF have taken the joint decision to immediately launch the succession process for Jean-Bernard Lévy at the head of the group, EDF announced in a press release on Thursday.
The new CEO of EDF, when he is appointed, will be able to take up his duties before the end of Jean-Bernard Lévy’s term of office, set no later than March 18, 2023, taking into account the age limit set by the bylaws of the company, specifies the electrician.
Jean-Bernard Lévy, who is 67, will continue to perform his duties until the appointment of his successor.
The board of directors also took note of the decision of the State, announced Wednesday by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, to increase to 100% of the capital of EDF and “will provide all its assistance to carry it out, according to the methods adopted. by the State and in the interest of all stakeholders”.
Controlled at 83.9% by the State, EDF, to which Emmanuel Macron has assigned the objective of launching a new program to build nuclear reactors, is faced with significant financial needs to invest while the group is already strongly indebted.
