As it stands, a simple optional component bringing together MSN games has been tested with a very small group of users.

If Microsoft is forcing you to use its Edge browser, at the same time, the company is working to add features to make it more attractive than competing solutions (such as Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or even Brave, so as not to name them). The latest find from the Redmond firm after updating RSS feeds? A “Games” sign.

Direct access to MSN Games

For now, this is only offered to a very small number of Edge Canary users (specifically version 99.0.1117.0). On Reddit, one of them, Leopeva64-2, however shared some screenshots illustrating the integration of the shutter.

By default, the “Games” button is disabled. Once activated, it appears in the browser toolbar. It is used to open a side panel, which displays various titles from the MSN Games catalog. So don’t expect to play (yet) Gears of War 5
Where Forza Horizon 5
through this, but rather at Solitary or to Merge fruit. The layout seems quite clear and ergonomic, with titles arranged according to different categories (Microsoft Classics, Arcade, Sports, etc.).

Selecting one of the titles then allows you to play it from the Edge browser, without installation, in a “transparent” way.

You will agree, therefore, this game bar does not seem very invasive, especially since, as mentioned above, it is disabled by default.

Xbox games using xCloud in the future?

Like all features deployed on Canary Edge, there is no guarantee that it will be generalized. Also, for now, there doesn’t appear to be any connection with the Xbox app.

However, in the future, we can quite imagine a more extensive game catalog, and especially more “premium” thanks to the cloud gaming service xCloud. Well, that’s a totally free and unfounded assumption at the moment. However, Microsoft initially deployed its xCloud by Edge on PC before integrating it into the dedicated Xbox application. Technically, the basics are there.
