Édouard Philippe: emotion during his re-election speech in Le Havre: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Sunday June 28, 2020, Edouard Philippe was re-elected mayor of Le Havre. He won with 59% of the vote against the Communist deputy Jean-Paul Lecoq. The former tenant of Matignon, who resigned on Friday and was replaced by Jean Castex, has therefore found the seat he occupied between 2010 and 2017. A week after this electoral victory, the tall brunette with the round glasses and appeared happy and serene in the 'enclosure of the Norman town hall. Upon arrival at the installation municipal council, Édouard Philippe was acclaimed by the members of the council and the public present in the room. After observing a minute of silence in tribute to two political figures in the region, he continued with a speech of more than a quarter of an hour. He insisted on thank Jean-Baptiste Gastinne, "who for many months held the post of mayor of Le Havre in convictions which were sometimes difficult. I would like to say to him at the same time my gratitude, my confidence, my friendship and the fact that he counted a lot ", did he declare.

Édouard Philippe thanks his peers and his voters

"It’s the same emotion for me as in 2001, because I can say, like many of my other fellow mayors, that being given this responsibility is being able to exercise the most beautiful of mandates that the Republic can offer, the most beautiful", assured the former Prime Minister of Emmanuel Macron. "Doing it in the city we love, we connect with things, with people, with projects, and all of that creates a human density that those who commit know, and that those who watch sometimes do not imagine ", he continued. A long speech during which he also addressed his constituents: "When we are elected, we know that we will not do everything well and that everything will not be perfect. On the other hand, we know how to be animated by the deep conviction that we are going to do the best we can ".
