An economical recipe

The “feta fried egg” only asks two ingredients : eggs and feta. Nothing to ruin yourself on the shelves of our merchants. They are rather “closet” ingredients. Journalist Grace Elkus wanted to taste her traditional tacos, except that, lacking potatoes, she used the leftover Greek cheese to create a base to cook her fried eggs on.

Fried egg with feta recipe

Ingredients :

– 75 g of feta (half a packet)

– 1 egg

– pepper

– chilli sauce (optional)

Recipe

1. In a hot skillet, melt the feta. Pepper.

2. Add the chilli sauce or chilli powder then break the egg on it. Cover.

3. Once the white ceases to be transparent, remove the preparation. You can add it to a tortilla.

Tips: no need to add salt. Feta is a fairly salty cheese. Ditto for the fat, it is useless if you use a non-stick pan. In addition, as it melts, the feta releases fat, allowing the preparation not to stick.

Decline the fried egg feta recipe

When cooked, the feta turns into a crispy and delicious pancake. Do not hesitate in addition to your fried egg to flavor the recipe with a little pesto sauce, arrabiata sauce (spicy tomato sauce) or by adding spinach for example or any other seasonal vegetable of your choice.

How to choose your feta?

The word “feta” has been an appellation protected by an AOP since 2002. In the 1960s, Denmark then France and Germany seized the market by mass-producing an ersatz of poor quality, only made with cow’s milk. Real feta is made only in Greecefrom a mixture of milk from sheep and goat breeds. It is certainly a little more expensive but so much better! To recognize it on the shelves, the feta bears its AOP logo but also displays its composition: goat’s milk must not exceed 30%.
