Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Route, has just been recognized for one of its new innovative solutions proposed at the 2022 edition of the call for innovation projects “Roads and Streets” devoted this year to the challenges of ecological transition in the road.
The solution of “coated materials with optimized rolling resistance”, developed by Eiffage Route in partnership with Gustave Eiffel University, was specifically developed to reduce rolling resistance (estimate of around 10%), while while maintaining a high level of security. This resistance is encountered by the tires of light vehicles and heavy goods vehicles in contact with the roadway.
The purpose of this new solution is to act on scope 3 downstream, in the context of the use of roads with heavy traffic, by targeting a reduction in CO2 emissions generated by rolling resistance.
Awarded by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, in association with IDRRIM and Cerema, and co-labelled by AIT (Agency for Innovation in Transport), the call for projects ” Routes et Rues” encourages the validation of innovations through demonstration sites in real conditions.
The distinguished innovation will therefore now be able to be the subject of experimentation protocols with contracting authorities wishing to test it on their territories. The mixes used will be monitored for 3 to 5 years by Cerema in order to validate their performance and durability.
Since the creation of this system, Eiffage has been awarded at each of the editions. As a reminder, the Group was honored for Recyclean®and R6Pont in 2015, Aéroprène® in 2016, Recytal-ARM® and Luciole®in 2017, Microphone®Stereo and Guid’N Grip®in 2018. In 2019, four of the eight distinctions were won by Eiffage: LuminoKrom®Vision+, Biophalt®, Skinway® and PRFC. In 2020, two low-carbon solutions, Bioklair® (formerly BioKrom®) and Bio-Ertalh®, were distinguished, followed by three solutions in 2021: TramERS GB5®, EcOasis® and HPE.
