Eight men suspected of being “Sunday robbers” arrested by the Seine-Saint-Denis judicial police

The employees of the Bouygues Telecom telephone store in the Westfield Rosny 2 shopping center (Seine-Saint-Denis) do not yet know it, but they undoubtedly escaped, on Sunday, December 10, a second robbery in the space of four months . Eight individuals were arrested as they were preparing to commit, according to a judicial source, “a new armed attack against this brand, after the first one on August 27”.

That day, another Sunday, the Bouygues Telecom store was robbed during a lightning operation. The damage is significant: in a few dozen seconds, two hundred mobile phones at a unit price of a thousand euros are stolen. Seized of the facts, the Seine-Saint-Denis territorial security investigators used the images from video surveillance and quickly understood that the criminals were following a precise operating procedure. Special feature: instead of the usual firearms, they use gaseous ones, portable aerosol canisters. Then begins, according to the same source, “an important work, both classic judicial police investigation and advanced processing of mobile telephone data”.

Isolated cell phone numbers led to the identification of several individuals whose profile surprised the investigators. Almost all of them are certainly unfavorably known to the police for offenses ranging from violation of judicial control to extortion in an organized gang, but they are above all very young, twenty years old on average, a rarity in the among the robbers who are becoming rarer. “And yet, indicates a police source, it is an already structured team of drawers, practically old-style robbers capable of scouting, acting and disappearing very quickly. »

Very young but very organized

The degree of organization of the young people encouraged the investigators to request the assistance of the research and intervention brigade of the Paris police headquarters, jointly seized while a judicial investigation was opened at the Bobigny judicial court. After a joint investigation carried out over the space of a few weeks, four men were arrested on Sunday in Villemomble (Seine-Saint-Denis) aboard two “war vehicles”, stolen cars in police jargon, on board which the police officers discover “break-in equipment”. A fifth man, considered the kingpin of the gang and the giver of orders, is in turn immediately in Vitry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne). Aged twenty, he has a total of nineteen criminal records, notably for acts of extortion with weapons and armed robbery in an organized gang. Three other suspects were arrested on Monday morning. All were taken into custody.
