Elden Ring: Speedrun now under 6 minutes!

It seems that when you love, you don’t count. In the case of’Elden Ringit’s just the opposite: the more we like, the more precisely we time the time it took us to complete the game. If the player Distortion2 managed to establish himself for a long time by breaking his own speedrun records as he went, that’s good seeker who currently wins the prize with a score of 5:58 mins.

How did the player save almost 1 minute on his final time? Is it possible to go further away ? Let’s look at this.

The official photo finish: 5:59.51 minutes!

The Any% Unrestricted speedrun history

For those uninitiated in the world of speedrunning, the “Any% Unrestricted” is the most permissive, therefore generally the most spectacular but also the one that gives the best final results. Simply put, players have the right to exploit all native systems and flaws of the game to move faster, and all that matters isarrive at the end of game screenregardless of its completion rate.

In short, everything is allowed apart from cheating, including skipping quests, even those in the main story. The players therefore have a field day in this category which offers us quality entertainment. When we see the level of players capable of exploiting the slightest interaction to advance faster, we understand that it is a question ofa real discipline.

Until recently, this is the player Distortion2 who was the master of it on Elden Ring. First player down under 30 minutes, he then perfected his run to beat the game in less than 7 minutes. He had, however, been caught by the French player Seeker who held the new record at 6:46 minutes!

Our tricolor speedrunner then decided to go even lower aiming 6:30 he explains to us in his latest video, but while trying to reach this level, he managed an incredible game which allowed him to reach a new level which he did not expect: less than 6 minutes. His final validated score: 358 seconds, or 5:58 minutes. A huge congratulations to him!

What’s the next step ?

What’s important to understand is that while there are obviously technical limits to the game’s speedrun, those haven’t been reached yet. The human being is currently the limiting factor, and when Seeker explains his speedrun technique to us, we understand why. He uses the same trick as almost the entire Elden Ring community, namely the “ZipperIn the comments to his latest video, he explains what it’s all about:

The teleportation trick I use in this speedrun is called a “Zip”. This is a frame perfect trick that requires moving forward at a specific time while blocking and walking.

To make it more difficult, you have to press forward for a specific number of frames, depending on when you started forward, the goal being to release forward after the blocking animation hits exactly 139 frames.

In order to improve your score, you must perfect knowledge of the game and its timingsas well as almost super-human reflexes to be able to fully exploit them. We can also clearly see in the video that he does not always manage to trigger his zip perfectly, so we can conclude that, technically, the perfect run has still not fallen!

Courage seeker, and good luck to all speedrunners, we can’t wait to see your next exploits!
