Electric car: the battery that no longer needs to be recharged will soon be a reality

Several large teams of international researchers are working on a revolutionary battery for electric cars. This could deliver more than a million kilometers of autonomy and mark the end of the recharging system that we currently know. Of course, this is all theory for now. But the researchers announce that they have made significant progress on the subject.

The main disadvantage of electric cars rest of our days battery charging system, which can be restrictive in some cases. France, for example, has only 16% of European charging stations. And it can quickly be complicated to find a charging station when traveling by electric car throughout France.

Fortunately, all of this is only temporary. And charging stations are growing more and more in the world. Like Tesla, which has just extended its Supercharger network across Europe. However, maybe in a few years these electric car charging stations will be completely obsolete.

Several major international researchers are working at this very moment on a revolutionary and futuristic battery, which could reach a million kilometers of autonomy. Of course, this is all pure theory, but researchers could well develop this technology within a few years.

The electric cars of the future may no longer need charging

The quantum batteries could indeed be a game changer when it comes to the future of our electric cars. It is precisely the brand new concept of “super-absorption” that could deliver this crazy autonomy to the future batteries of our electric vehicles. Researchers from the University of Adelaide and several other international research teams have demonstrated this brand new principle of energy storage.

They even went so far as to explain this concept in the scientific journal Science Advances. The researchers thus engraved microcavities on a silicon wafer of various sizes, which contains a different number of organic molecules. Then they loaded these cavities with a laser. And the result is rather surprising.

“The active layer of the microcavity contains organic semiconductor materials that store energy. The idea of quantum battery super-absorption is that the molecules act collectively through a property known as quantum superposition. As the size of the microcavities and the number of molecules increase, the charging time decreases” thus summarized the researchers.

To make it clearer, the greater the capacity of a created battery would be, the shorter the charging time would be. It would then be possible to create batteries so energy dense speaking for electric cars to drive tirelessly and without recharging necessary.

For now, however, this principle remains theoretical. But researchers continue to work on the subject. And maybe in a few years it will actually be possible to drive your electric car, without necessarily going through the charging box during its life. A real revolution.
