Electric car: the ecological bonus increased to €7,000, but not for everyone

While the Mondial de l’Auto will open to the public tomorrow in Paris, President Emmanuel Macron has just announced good news concerning the ecological bonus granted to the purchase of electric cars.

While the ecological bonus, set at 6,000 euros, was initially to increase to 5,000 euros on 1er last July, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne finally announced that the maximum amount of 6,000 euros would be maintained until the end of 2023. However, the government had announced the end of aid for the purchase of a plug-in hybrid.

It was therefore expected that the purchase of an electric car would become more and more complicated for the French, since the amount of aid would soon be reduced. President Emmanuel Macron was reassuring about this, and he even said that the bonus will eventually start to rise again for some French people.

Increase in the ecological bonus to 7,000 euros for the purchase of an electric vehicle

At our colleagues Les Echos, the President of the Republic announced that the ecological bonus will again be increased to 7,000 euros for the most modest people.Because we want to make the electric car accessible to everyone, we are even going to increase the ecological bonus from 6,000 to 7,000 euros for half of the households, the most modest “.

Not all French people will be able to benefit from it. President Emmanuel Macron did not specify what would be the income conditions necessary to benefit from this increase of 1000 euros in the amount of the ecological bonus. We also recall that the latter has been valid since mid-August for electric vehicles sold for less than 47,000 euros. No Tesla is therefore eligible for this bonus, the American manufacturer having recently significantly increased its prices because of the global geopolitical situation.

Other measures announced by the President include: the extension of the price shield to electric charging stations from January 2023. This is good news, in a period when it is increasingly difficult to find a service station with gasoline. The French will also be able to count on an electric car leasing system at 100 euros per month from the second half of 2023.
