Electric cars: Ionity opens 32 fast charging stations on the Autoroute du Soleil

The summer of 2023 is shaping up under better auspices for owners of an electric vehicle wishing to travel to the South for their holidays. The operator of the Ionity fast charging station network recently inaugurated two new sites in Mornas (Vaucluse).

Called Mornas-les-Adrets and Mornas-Village, these two areas 35 km from Avignon are located on either side of the A7, nicknamed the Autoroute du Soleil. The particularity of this site is to be the largest and most powerful in Europe with 32 ultra-fast chargers (16 + 16 at each station) (up to 350 kW).

Both stations are covered by a wide and long canopy equipped with solar panels, thus protecting the electric vehicles and their passengers. In addition to ancillary services (?), we will especially remember that from next spring, it will be possible to pay for your charge using a simple credit card, as you would for a loaf of bread. This possibility will be extended to all new Ionity stations coming out of the ground.

Currently, Ionity has nearly 120 charging stations in France, i.e. 576 points “active to date”. A dozen stations are also under construction. Remember that in May 2022, Ionity inaugurated its 100th station in France, near Roissy Charles-De-Gaulle airport.

The Ionity consortium, which brings together car manufacturers BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche, now has 450 stations, or more than 2,000 charging points in 24 European countries. The objective is to reach 1,000 stations within a few years, or approximately 7,000 charging points.
