Electric cars – Top 20 sales in April 2023, Dacia Spring number one ahead of Peugeot e-208 and Fiat 500


According to monthly figures provided by the organization NGC Data, there were 132,509 registrations of new passenger cars in April 2023, an increase of 21.88%. By way of comparison, this is more than in April 2022 (108,724 registrations) and a little less than in April 2021 (133,730 registrations).

Between January and April 2023, 553,396 new passenger cars were registered, an increase of 16.73% compared to the same period of 2022 (84 working days).

On the engine side, while gasoline still occupies first place with 53,475 registrations (+31%), diesel continues its long descent into hell with 13,088 registrations (-11%). It is the electric that wins the bet with 17,113 registrations (+35%; PDM of 13%).

SALES OF NEW ELECTRIC PASSENGER CARS IN APRIL 2023

The podium of the top 20 electric vehicles undergoes some changes in comparison with March. Indeed, the Dacia Spring, second last month, comes first with 2432 copies (+55%; PDM of 14%).

The low-cost SUV dethrones the Tesla Model Y and its 1333 copies (+1432%; PDM of 8%) which land in 4th place. This coup allows the Peugeot e-208 (1,563 units; +9%; 14% market share) and the Fiat 500 (1,365 units; -21%; 8% market share) to reach the podium by winning one seat each.

Sixth last month, the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric (1,184 units; +1,038%; PDM of 7%) moved up one place (5th) at the expense of another Tesla, the Model 3 (389 units; +3,790 %; PDM of 2%), which drops to 13th place.

The decline of the two Teslas benefits the MG4, the sedan of the Chinese brand MG which never ceases to surprise with its good quality/price ratio. With 782 units (PDM of 5%) sold, it gains one place, rising from 7th to 6th place.

It should be noted that the Stellantis (Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Fiat) and Renault/Dacia groups respectively place five and four models in the top 20, against three for Volkswagen (Volkswagen and Skoda).
