Electricity “seeps away” – This is how charging losses in electric cars can be minimized

AC charging, i.e. charging with alternating current, is considered to be less disadvantageous. However, if this happens in a single phase, for example at a household socket, the permanent charging losses of the vehicle systems increase. Better results can be achieved with a faster wall box, which can provide up to 11 kW with a three-phase power connection. Charging at public AC charging stations, which also charge with 11 or 22 kW, is considered to be similarly low-loss. However, it is not the charging that comes into play here, but the immense loss of time compared to direct current charging.
