For several months, rumors have announced that a GAFAM giant would like to buy EA. According to several contradicting sources, Amazon may (or may not) have made an offer.

The rumor has been swelling for a few hours, and several insiders seem to agree on a very big acquisition to come.. While Microsoft has just acquired Activision-Blizzard (the finalization is expected in 2023), another GAFAM giant would be eyeing the American studio: Amazon wants Electronic Arts. Since May, the sale of EA has been on everyone’s lips. Several clues suggested a takeover by an industry giant, such as Disney or Apple. Amazon was also mentioned.

According to several rumors, the online seller would have made the best offer and should formalize the information in the coming hours. With this acquisition, Amazon would get its hands on one of the biggest groups in video games todaywhich recently put 1.2 billion on the table to pay Codemastersand almost as much for Playdemic.

On the American channel CNBCjournalist David Faber for his part announced that “Amazon did not want to make an offer to buy EA” while confirming that the company had indeed been in discussion with the leaders of the video game studio. In case of purchase, the new owner would also get his hands on flourishing licenses like Mass Effect, Apex Legends, Dragon Age or Battlefield, but unfortunately will no longer be able to count on its FIFA, whose contract ends with FIFA 23.
