The work of Italian novelist Elena Ferrante continues to inspire the small screen. Netflix is about to release an adaptation of “The Lying Life of Adults”.
If Elena Ferrante knows how to be discreet, almost invisible to the general public, her work is known throughout the world. Many of his books have film or television adaptations. One of the most famous remains that of the series L’Amie Prodigieuse, whose season 4 is expected for 2023.
Another of his novels will come to life on the screens: The lying life of adults. Published in 2019, this book is transposed into a series of six episodes, available from January 4 on Netflix. What a good way to start the year.
This fiction is presented as “a powerful and singular portrait of Giovanna’s passage from childhood to adolescence in the 90sThe heroine is torn between two Naples who hate each other. The first is refined, frequented by Italian high society, the second is that of the lowlands, which wants to be excessive and rustic.
On screen, we find Valeria Golino, who plays the aunt of the main character. As for Giovanna, she is played by Giordana Marengo. Her parents are played by Alessandro Preziosi and Pina Turco.
This is not the first time that an Elena Ferrante novel has been adapted on Netflix. In 2021, Maggie Gyllenhaal directed The Lost Daughter with, among others, Olivia Colman and Dakota Johnson.
