Finally four of us – and no one noticed. At least the public is only now learning firsthand that ‘Lord of the Rings’ star Elijah Wood and his partner, Danish film producer Mette-Marie Kongsved, welcomed another child into the world last year.
“We have a three-year-old son and a 14-month-old daughter, and she wakes us up pretty early,” explains Elijah Wood, 42, almost casually in his current interview with “WSJ. Magazine” – and causes traffic jams! Excuse me, a daughter? The “Lord of the Rings” star and his partner Mette-Marie Kongsved, 31, have so far been able to keep the magical little secret under the umbrella. Now his fans are even finding out that the Mini keeps their parents on their toes and crows for attention early on. No problem for the proud dad: “I like to get up early, I like to start the day”.

In fact, Elijah has never been known for his talkative nature. When his first child was born three years ago, the baby luck only came out through a leak in the environment. It was only in February 2020 that he revealed that he and his sweetheart found out on Christmas Eve that they were becoming parents for the first time. “I haven’t smoked a cigarette since then,” the American explained when he appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers. “And that night I found out we were pregnant. On Christmas Eve.”

Now the actor announces his further happiness of his own volition – in his own, unexcited way. The Hollywood star maintains her own private Instagram channel to keep family and friends up to date. However, a public profile is out of the question for the reclusive Elijah. “I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn’t necessarily want to share with the whole world,” said the 42-year-old. “Having an account open to the public would really change what I share. It’s not that I share something I don’t want to publish, but I’m a relatively private person.”
