Elon Musk has now found a new target. And it is the collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia that bears the brunt of his anger.

The billionaire and Twitter boss did not appreciate the encyclopedia’s coverage of the suspension of several journalists. He therefore accused her of being in the pay of the mainstream media.

A story of doxxing that goes wrong

To put this accusation into context, we have to go back a few days in the turbulent news of Twitter. Elon Musk, while he had promised not to touch users following the movements of billionaire jets (including his own) when he arrived at the head of Twitter, banned the famous @ElonJet account.

This removal was followed by the introduction of a new rule that prohibits sharing a person’s live location or links allowing it. In the process, Twitter also suspended the accounts of several journalists from the New York Timesfrom washington post or of CNN.

This event was very quickly talked about in the media sphere and was recorded on Wikipedia, under the rather provocative title of ” Thursday Night Massacre (the Thursday night massacre). It was enough to provoke the ire of Elon Musk.

For Elon Musk, Wikipedia is controlled by mainstream media journalists »

The billionaire has indeed not done in the lace when he learned of the creation of this page. While a screenshot of the article in question was shared with him, he posted a tweet where he claims that ” Wikipedia is controlled by mainstream media journalists “. A very peremptory allegation which would require to be substantiated…

For Elon Musk, the case boils down to a ” suspension of 2 days and maybe 7 accounts for doxxing “. In short, nothing to get upset in his opinion, unless you want to mount a cabal against his person. It is therefore hardly surprising to see him end his message with a cry of disenchantment with the largest online encyclopedia in the world: “ I can’t trust this site anymore. »

This new clash illustrates the very strong antagonistic relationship between Elon Musk and journalists. Since taking power on Twitter, the businessman has repeatedly attacked the profession, believing that it was not the only source of legitimate information. He repeated in his Space with Drew Harrell that on the issue of doxxing, he would not differentiate between regular users and journalists.

Small clarification, the Wikipedia page that angered Elon Musk has since been renamed ” The Twitter suspensions of December 15, 2022 “. What to bring back the boss of Twitter on his words?
