According to the president, an alliance between PS and LFI would be against nature. “The carp is not the rabbit, as the French proverb says”. A way of saying that this union is, according to him and if it is done, very badly matched.

But differences remain: on the disobedience to the European treaties advocated by LFI, on secularism or even on the support to be granted to Ukraine that the PS wants “full and whole”.
This Friday, the PS suspended negotiations with the party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
