Emmanuel Macron re-elected president: this contradictory information which circulated before 8 p.m.

At the end of the second round of the presidential election, Emmanuel Macron was re-elected President of the Republic, Sunday April 24, 2022, with 58.2% of the vote. But until the last minute, contradictory information fueled the suspense.

It is 8 p.m. this Sunday, April 24, 2022. The face of the 26th President of the French Republic finally appears on television and smartphone screens. Emmanuel Macron is re-elected with 58.2%. The outgoing president returns to the Élysée for five more years. Qualified in the second round for the second time, Marine Le Pen still misses the mark by winning 41.8% of votes. However, throughout this national election day, contradictory information has fueled the suspense.

Marine Le Pen exceeds 60% in the DOM-TOMs

The results on the DOM-TOM quickly circulated on social networks, placing the far-right candidate in the lead. Information confirmed by the RTBF in the afternoon: “In Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guyana, where the results are complete, Marine Le Pen would come out ahead of Emmanuel Macron”, could we read on the site of the Belgian daily.

Several personalities, including rapper and actor JoeyStarr, shared these surprising results, knowing that the candidate of France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon had come first in the majority of these overseas territories during the first round on April 10.

At the end of the day, an enigmatic tweet from Alexandre Benalla, Achilles heel of Emmanuel Macron also cast doubt. “There is a risk of very, very high tension tonight at 8 p.m. … Crisis meeting in progress!”dropped the former project manager at the Elysée, judged guilty violence in meetings during the demonstrations of May 1, 2018.

Then a missed tweet from BFMTV turned the tide, announcing the re-election of the outgoing president at 6:33 p.m., an hour and a half before the official results were announced.

The tweet was deleted in stride but it was not without counting on the vivacity of Internet users who did not fail to take screenshots.
