Do you feel numb and mostly unmotivated? Then your emotional world is probably somehow out of joint. 5 warning signs that you are emotionally in chaos.

Usually feelings help us to get through our lives and find our way. They signal to us who or what is good for us and what makes us unhappy or hurts. But if, for example, the feelings become so strong that we can hardly stand them, or if we have too much to listen to, they can plunge us into emotional chaos. That in turn always falls at our feet sooner or later – and in extreme cases even prevents us from continuing to live.

5 signs of emotional overload

These warning signals should ring your alarm bells: They indicate that you are either heading straight for the emotional overload – or that you are already in the middle of it.

1. Even everyday little things are often too much for you

  • Laundry stays in the machine for days after washing,
  • your passport or ID has expired months ago
  • and emptying your mailbox is horror for you, because the unopened letters are already piling up in your apartment.

These are probably not evidence of your laziness, but rather signs that you are having extreme trouble motivating yourself – which in turn is likely because your emotional balance is at half-mast.

2. You look forward to bed – but not to tomorrow at all

As soon as you get up, you long for one thing above all: That it will be evening again quickly and that you can go back to bed. No matter whether Monday, Wednesday or Saturday, first and foremost you find every day exhausting – but not in the challenging way, but in the annoying way!

3. You find it difficult to make simple decisions

  • Order food or cook yourself?
  • Strawberry or raspberry yogurt?
  • Jeans or skirt?
  • Tie your hair up or open it?
  • Do I go to the club or not?

You often need what feels like an eternity to be clear about the most mundane things. Most likely explanation: Your inner compass, your intuition, is currently on strike, freaking out, wrongly polarized or whatever – in any case, but obviously not there for you as usual.

4. You no longer feel like doing what you used to like to do

Too windy for jogging, sooner or later you can stream movies and just sit in a café and talk to friends is boring. Suddenly you have more excuses for not doing things than reasons to do something. Why it is like that? Because your motivation has apparently switched to standby.

5. You lie awake at night without following a clear train of thought

“If I fall asleep now, I’ll have eight hours … now it’s six … now three … damn it!”

Remember last night And penultimate one? And the one before? Probably there is a chaos within you that does not allow you to calm down. And with every tired day you feel less equal to it …

If one or more of these signals sound familiar to you, please take action – because emotional overload rarely goes away on its own. If it somehow works (and somehow always works!), You can, for example, take a break (maybe a sabbatical?). It may also make sense to seek professional help.
