End of support: These Fritz!Repeaters and Fritz!Boxes will probably no longer receive updates

AVM

AVM Fritz!Boxes and repeaters enjoy long-term support. But this too will eventually come to an end. These products have now probably reached the end of support.

  • The Fritz!Boxes 3490 and 4020, as well as the Fritz!Repeater 1705E and 310 will probably no longer receive operating system updates.
  • In addition, there is no longer any personal manufacturer support.
  • However, security updates are not completely excluded.

AVM offers a manufacturer’s guarantee of five years for most products. Nevertheless, products are often supplied with firmware updates afterwards. At some point the support will end. This now affects the Fritz!Repeater 1750E, Fritz!Repeater 310 and the routers Fritz!Box 3490 and Fritz!Box 4020.

As reported by deskmodder.de, AVM has removed the checkmark from “personal support” for the devices mentioned on its support page. This is usually followed by the so-called “end of maintenance”, i.e. the time when the device no longer receives any function or operating system updates. However, AVM has not given precise information about these for some time, which is why only guesswork can be made in this regard.

Also interesting…

It can therefore be assumed that the models mentioned at the beginning will probably not be updated to the new operating system version Fritz!OS 7.50, which according to the manufacturer, at least on Fritz!Boxes, has over 150 new features and improvements. However, you may still receive security updates for the devices for some time.
