“Be proud, proud of what you do as I am proud of you”. It is in a very solemn tone that the French president addressed in a video message, broadcast this Friday, December 24 on social networks and via the intranet of the military, “to our soldiers, sailors and airmen”.
Emmanuel Macron had officially canceled due to the new epidemic outbreak the planned trip to the troops stationed in Gao, Mali. He had so far paid a visit to French soldiers in operation during each of the previous Christmases of his mandate.
“I wish to speak directly to you on this Christmas Eve”, declares to them the one who is also the commander of the armies, “to tell you that my thoughts are with you while, often far from your families and friends, you continue to ensure in France, as everywhere in the world, the defense of our country, of its interests, of its values”.
