Income tax: a new bar in 2024
The government will index the income tax scale to inflation next year: the thresholds for the different tax brackets will all be increased by 4.8% to avoid penalizing households who have benefited from salary increases . PER for minor children: it’s over

The extension until the end of 2024 of an exemption which allows restaurant vouchers to be used to purchase all food products was voted in December. The system, implemented in 2022, allows some 5.4 million employees in France to use their restaurant vouchers to buy products on the shelves that are not directly consumable (flour, pasta, rice, meat, etc.), while they are normally reserved for directly consumable products in addition to restaurants.

A new energy check campaign in March
Neither wood check nor fuel check in 2024, but a new energy check campaign will see the light of day in March. To receive this aid, the amount of which is between 48 and 277 euros, there is nothing you need to do. The energy check depends your income and the composition of your householdbased on the information available to the tax authorities.
Last year, a person living alone had to have an RFR of 11,000 euros maximum to receive the energy check and a couple with two children should not exceed 23,100 euros.

The energy check can be used to pay your electricity, gas, wood bill or any energy you use for heating. It can also be used for energy renovation work. However, you cannot use it to pay for fuel.
Energy: new rules to protect consumers
New rules to protect consumers will be put in place in 2024, a year when increases in energy bills threaten households. In December, the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) presented changes to prevent the price creep observed over the past two years and to impose a more restrictive framework on energy suppliers.
With the services of the mediator, it is notably proposed to set up a categorization of contractual offers. Three categories could be created: fixed price offers, price offers indexed to a public reference such as regulated electricity sales tariffs (TRV) or the benchmark price of gas, other offers linked to market developments.
