Enie van de Meiklokjes moderates, among other things, “The Great Baking”. In the interview, she gives baking tips and reveals her favorite biscuits.

The two are real luminaries when it comes to baking: Enie van de Meiklokjes (47) moderates the shows “Sweet & Easy” and “The Big Backing”. Kiki Aweimer (29) aka Kikis Kitchen inspires thousands of fans with her recipes on her social media channels and also runs her own online shop with baking and cooking accessories. Together with Avast, a provider of digital security and privacy solutions, the two experts now want to provide information about Internet cookies while baking delicious cookies together.

According to a recent survey by Avast, more than half of those surveyed do not know what Internet cookies are used for. Almost 60 percent also stated that they would like to access the website as quickly as possible and that manually rejecting cookies is too time-consuming. In the interview, van de Meiklokjes talks about both the taste and the technical level of cookies.

Ms van de Meiklokjes, what do you think of first when you think of cookies: cookies or internet cookies?

Enie van de Meiklokjes: Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is biscuits. American fluffy, moist, lukewarm and wonderfully fragrant biscuits.

More than 50 percent of Germans are not sure or do not know at all what cookies are actually for. How sure are you about the topic?

Van de Meiklokjes: Unfortunately, I was definitely one of those 50 percent. I knew only rudimentary about it until two weeks ago. But since we started shooting together with Kiki and Avast, I now know a lot about internet cookies. And if you deal with it more intensively, then it’s really not that complicated.

How consistent are you personally with your digital privacy?

Van de Meiklokjes: Digitally, I’m relatively transparent. I know when I put something on the web, it stays forever. That’s why I always think twice about whether and what I put online.

What’s your secret recipe for protecting your family’s online privacy?

Van de Meiklokjes: It’s actually quite simple. I don’t put anything private on the internet. I only publish information and photos that I believe everyone is allowed to know and see.

Together with Kikis Kitchen you want to inform about the topic in which you bake cookies. Did you know the food YouTuber before?

Van de Meiklokjes: To be honest, I didn’t know Kiki before we started shooting together. Unfortunately! I find her really nice, likeable and we had a great bond with each other – and we had a lot of fun baking together. I will definitely watch your videos more often now and bake one or the other delicious recipe.

What could you learn from each other?

Van de Meiklokjes: Well, Kiki could definitely learn from me that I love butter just as much as she does. There can never be too much butter! And I definitely learned a lot about internet cookies from Kiki. She is very familiar with it, since she also runs her own online shop. That was really super interesting.

Where do you get your inspiration for the many delicious recipes from?

Van de Meiklokjes: From everyday life, the many trips and everything that comes my way. I really enjoy trying things and new recipes. Sometimes you don’t even need a new recipe – just take a basic recipe and try out new ingredients.

What is particularly important when baking cookies?

Van de Meiklokjes: To good ingredients and a large helping of love. And of course an oven is also important – you should have one at home to bake cookies (laughs).

What tips do you have for baking beginners?

Van de Meiklokjes: The best and only tip is: dare to do anything, try everything! Well, maybe not exactly the nine-story cream cake … but otherwise there are no taboos. Nothing can go wrong. With the right ingredients it can only be delicious.

What’s your favorite recipe when it comes to cookies?

Van de Meiklokjes: I like it when chunky chocolate is baked in. Ideally, the biscuits should still be lukewarm, soft in the middle and crispy on the outside. I don’t even have a favorite recipe. I always use a basic recipe and then I use my favorite ingredients. Whether fruit, chocolate or sprinkles. Everything is allowed there. I like everything!
