  • In the playoffs of the National League, Lugano wins the second game against Geneva-Servette 2-0 in front of their home crowd and equalizes the quarter-final series to 1-1.

  • In Thursday’s other game, Biel beat SCB 4-2.
  • In the playout, the SCL Tigers also win away against Ajoie.

Lugano – Geneva-Servette 2:0 (series 1:1)

The absences of the ill Henrik Tömmern and the injured captain Noah Rod made themselves felt at Geneva-Servette in Game 2. The Ticino hosts were more compelling and deservedly took the lead mid-game with a hard slapshot from Calle Andersson.

After that things got hectic: Teemu Hartikainen dealt a hard check against Marco Zanetti and thus tempted Calvin Thürkauf to a revenge cross check. While the Finnish top scorer from Geneva did not allow himself to be provoked, Thürkauf had to go to the penalty box. Hartikainen’s teammates didn’t act quite as confidently as a result. Lugano survived the penalty and was initially closer to 2-0 than Geneva was 1-1. Kris Bennett missed the second goal just before the second siren with a post shot.

In the end it was Daniel Carr who scored the 2-0 after an exemplary counterattack (53′). After a double one-two with Zanetti, he danced out Gauthier Descloux and brought about the decision. Mikko Koskinen, who made 33 saves, recorded the Luganesi victory afterwards. The western Swiss get the chance to make amends after the underwhelming performance on Saturday. Then Act 3 is on the program in Geneva.

Ajoie – Tigers 0:2 (series 0:2)

The SCL Tigers are two wins away from staying in the league. After the 4-0 win on Tuesday, the Emmentaler also won the second playout game against Ajoie. After 29 minutes of play in Pruntrut, Axel Holmström broke the spell on the power play. Cody Eakin, who had scored in Game 1, extended the lead in the 50th minute. The Jurassians couldn’t find an answer and are still waiting for the first goal in the best-of-7 series.
