Equinor: interested in floating wind power in the Celtic Sea

(CercleFinance.com) – Equinor announces interest in developing floating offshore wind turbines (gigawatt scale) in the Celtic Sea, in view of the next round of floating wind turbine rental on the seabed of the sea Celtic.

The Crown Estate – which manages the portfolio of assets associated with the UK Crown – is indeed planning a seabed lease cycle in the Celtic Sea as early as 2023, to facilitate the development of the floating offshore wind industry in the UK and encourage investment in the UK supply chain.

Equinor has been operating in the UK for nearly 40 years and recalls having installed the world’s first floating wind turbine, and are currently building the world’s largest floating wind farm.

Equinor believes that ‘the Celtic Sea is an optimal region to further develop this important technology’.
