Invited Tuesday morning by Sonia Mabrouk, Eric Ciotti maintained his support for Valérie Pécresse in the presidential race, despite the alliance of the candidate LR with the Center. He also assured that it is not Jean-Christophe Lagarde, president of the UDI, who “fixes the line” of the president of the Ile-de-France region.

INTERVIEW

The president of the UDI Jean-Christophe Lagarde on Friday gave his support to the LR candidate for the presidential election, Valérie Pécresse, believing that a “new term of Emmanuel Macron would be dangerous for the country”. In particular, he wanted his movement to become “the moderate leg” of the president of the Ile-de-France region. During the right-wing primary, he said that if Eric Ciotti was elected, the UDI would not be part of the adventure. Invited to Europe Matin on Tuesday, the deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes in question returned to the words of Jean-Christophe Lagarde and considered that it was not he “who fixes the line” of Valérie Pécresse.

“Perfectly at ease with the countryside of Pécresse”

“I find myself totally in line with Valérie Pécresse, on questions of authority and taxation. I feel perfectly at ease in her campaign. And there are allies who are joining us, that’s good, but the line is not changed,” he said. According to him, voting for candidate LR in April does not mean voting for the centrists. “It’s not voting centrist, it’s voting for France first and the recovery of a country in decline,” assured the deputy. “My ideas have never changed and the only way today to carry the ideas of a strong and assumed republican right is to vote for Valérie Pécresse.”

He finally called on voters “who trusted him” to vote for candidate LR. “To be tempted by a Le Pen or Zemmour bulletin is only to allow Emmanuel Macron to be re-elected,” he said. “The only way to beat her today, and I appeal to all right-wing voters, is to vote for Valérie Pécresse because she will be at the heart of this essential gathering.”
