Ericsson: Launches Digital Valley with Depa in Thailand

(CercleFinance.com) – Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) and Ericsson have officially started their collaboration as part of depa’s Thailand Digital Valley: a project to develop a Thai version of Silicon Valley in the USA.

The Thailand Digital Valley, located 80 km east of Bangkok, is set to become Southeast Asia’s new digital hub that will support the digital transformation of Thailand and the region. The project is expected to create around 20,000 new jobs and attract more than 5 billion baht in foreign direct investment per year.

Ericsson and depa will establish an innovation lab (Innolab) in the Thailand Digital Valley that will serve as a 5G test bed and service center for testing new technologies, spectrum sharing, as well as new applications and new services in Thailand.

“The ‘Thailand Digital Valley’ will play an important role in improving Thailand’s digital ecosystem and spur the country to become the digital hub of Southeast Asia,” said Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, Chairman -director general of the depa.
